Dunaj 2021

Dunaj 2021 from the Kanich winery in Pezinok is a Slovak dry red from the Dunaj grape variety, a Slovak proprietary cross, Malé Karpaty appellation, 0.75 l bottle.

On the nose, dried plum, cocoa and a hint of clove in the background. On the palate, medium-bodied, warm, soft but present tannins, lower acidity than Cabernet, long spicy finish with a pipe tobacco note.

Goes with grilled beef rib, meat pierogi in tomato sauce or very mature cheddar.

Dunaj is a Slovak cross from the 1970s; Kanich keeps it in the range as a house wine, warm and full, for cool evenings.
