Description
Supremus S6 Sangiovese 2023 from Vinařství Václav in Hustopeče is a Moravian dry red from the Velkopavlovická appellation, 0.75 l bottle.
On the nose cherry and morello cherry, sun-dried tomato and a hint of herbal rosemary. On the palate medium-bodied, tannins smooth but present, lively acidity typical of Sangiovese, long finish with a note of orange zest and delicate oak.
Open with pappardelle with ragù, roast lamb with rosemary or aged pecorino.
Sangiovese is an unexpected choice for Morawy; Václav grows it on a warmer plot below Kurdějov, where the stony ground resembles Tuscan galestro.
