Supremus S3 Frankovka 2023 from Vinařství Václav in Hustopeče is a Moravian dry red from the Velkopavlovická appellation, 0.75 l bottle.
On the nose dark cherry, blackcurrant and dried tobacco leaf in the background. On the palate dense and structured, tannins firm but ripe after a full year in barrel, leading acidity, very long finish with a hint of cedar and clove.
Serve with beef fillet in sage butter, with game in red wine sauce or with a board of long-aged cheeses.
The Supremus line from Václav keeps Frankovka in new oak for twelve months; the 2023 vintage is the third series of this grape variety, hence the S3 designation.
