Virebo Barrique Syrah pozdní sběr 2022 from Maňák Štěpán in Žádovice is a Moravian dry red from the Slovácká appellation, barrel-aged, 0.75 l bottle.
On the nose, blackcurrant, Tellicherry pepper and smoked rind. On the palate, dense and dark, tannins present but well integrated after 14 months in barrel; acidity lower than in the Frankovkas from the same vineyard, long finish with a smoky note.
Open with beef fillet steak with herb butter, lamb with mint or aged Manchego.
Syrah is a rarity in Czechia; Maňák has it on 0.4 hectares with a south-west exposure, where the heat sum is enough for full ripeness.
