Virebo Barrique Ryzlink Rýnský výběr z hroznů 2021 from Maňák Štěpán of Žádovice is a Moravian dry white from the Slovácká appellation, aged in barrel, 0.75 l bottle.
On the nose, acacia honey, candied lemon peel and a kerosene note typical of mature Riesling in the background. On the palate, deep and taut, with lively acidity even after barrel ageing; a very long finish with a mineral, saline note.
It goes with roast goose with apples, herring in cream with onions, or a leek and brie tart.
Maňák ferments this Riesling in an older 500 l barrel so that the wood adds structure without masking the grape variety.
