Rulandské Šedé 2021 from Bukovský is a Moravian dry white from the Velkopavlovická appellation below the village of Kobylí, 0.75 l bottle.
On the nose: clingstone pear, orange zest and beeswax. On the palate: round and full-bodied, with the slightly oily texture typical of Pinot Gris from warmer Moravian sites; acidity is calm, the finish long and nutty.
Serve with roast pork loin with apples, pumpkin and sage pierogi, or aged Gouda.
In the 2021 vintage, Bukovský picked this grape variety late, after two weeks of extra ripeness on the vine, hence the depth of flavour that the standard versions lack.
